Pablo is a blue anthropomorphic penguin and the deuteragonist of The Backyardigans. Pablo's voice was provided by Zach Tyler Eisen in the first season and by Jake Goldberg for the remainder of the series. His singing voice is provided by Sean Curley.
Why He Is A Good Penguin[]
- He’s a penguin who’s a very different, realistic, and likable character.
- His character design is cute and original.
- He promotes creativity and imagination, like when he was mixing liquids to see what the results would be, and when he was playing the role of a secret agent called "Agent Secret".
- The kinds of people he pretends to be can be awesome at times, like when he was pretending to be a secret agent, and when he was pretending to be the king of a kingdom.
- For one of the 5 main characters to focus on imagination in the show, he shows a lot of very creative and inventive moments in the episodes, such as the first episode "Knights are Brave and Strong", where he and his friends pretend they're in a medieval world.
- Zach Tyler Eisen and especially Jake Goldberg did a great job voicing him.
- Sean Curley did a great job with his singing voice.
- He has very realistic dances, as a troupe of real dancers learned each dance choreography and was filmed for the animators to watch, so that he and the other characters have amazing dances.
- He has funny jokes and running gags, such as him constantly freaking out and panicking and the characters have to calm him down.
- He really cares about his friends and is always there for them during their adventures.
- He is good-natured, playful, and tries to make everyone happy.
- He got some character development, as in later episodes, he does not panic too often anymore, and is always looking for solutions for a problem he and his friends come across during their adventures.
- Unlike Dora Márquez and other Nick Jr. protagonists, the way he, and his friends, breaks the fourth wall is pretty cool and it is not annoying for older children or adults making him one of the few preschool education characters that is entertaining for all ages.
Bad Qualities[]
- Sometimes, his singing voice is much too loud.
- His excessive/prolonged/repetitive singing can be annoying.
- The running gag when he constantly panics, while hilarious, can get annoying pretty fast.
