"Banana!"

The Minions are supporting characters in the Despicable Me franchise. They are yellow pill-shaped creatures who are Gru’s minions, and are characterized by their childlike behavior and unique language, which is almost intelligible at times.

Why They're Great[]

  1. They are comedic and hilarious comic reliefs for most of the time.
  2. They are the icon of Illumination.
  3. Their relationship with Gru is really heartwarming; instead of their boss abusing them like most henchmen, Gru gets along well with them. Their interactions with the girls were adorable too.
  4. They spawned some very funny internet memes.
  5. They also got their own short films and spin-off movie.
  6. BANANAAA!”
  7. Their character designs are pretty cute.
  8. The Despicable Me series would never be the same if it wasn’t for these guys.
  9. Pierre Coffin and Chris Renaud, who just happen to be the directors of Despicable Me 1 & 2 (even though the latter of whom did not direct the 3rd film, but Pierre did) do a good job voicing them.

Bad Qualities[]

  1. Although comic reliefs, they can be annoying at times.
  2. They were extremely overmarked.
  3. They can be quite mean to each other, especially in the first movie.
  4. Their first movie wasn't too great, but at least they get to have their own movie before Gru. Speaking of their movie, they have suffered flanderization, as their toilet humor has started to cross the line a bit and they themselves became more obnoxious than before (depending on your opinion), but thankfully they eventually recovered from that in Minions: The Rise of Gru, where they actually became likable again.
