Miguel and Tulio

Miguel and Tulio (born 1492 and 1486 perspectively) are the main protagonists of the 2000 DreamWorks Animation film The Road to El Dorado. They are voiced by Kenneth Branagh and Kevin Kline (movie) and David Gasman and Eddie Crew (video game), respectively.

Why They're Mighty And Powerful Gods[]

Overall[]

  1. Both of them are really funny to watch. They are basically Harry and Lloyd from Dumb and Dumber in animated form and the DreamWorks Animation of Harry and Lloyd.
  2. They have a healthy friendship with good chemistry.
  3. The idea of two conmen going to the fabled city of gold is original.
  4. A lot of their lines are highly memorable.
  5. Their designs are great to look at.
  6. They sometimes speak Spanish.
  7. They have different colored clothes and hairstyling, making them stand out.

Miguel[]

  1. He enjoys visiting different places.
  2. Kenneth Branagh did an excellent job voicing him. David Gasman was a good soundalike for him in the video game.

Tulio[]

  1. He has a good relationship with Chel.
  2. Kevin Kline did a great job voicing Tulio. Eddie Crew was a decent soundalike.

Bad Qualities[]

  1. They are victims of the “Liar Revealed” cliche, even though it had great execution.
  2. It isn’t explained how they first met.

Miguel[]

  1. It isn’t explained on why Miguel has an English accent. It could be that he is raised by English parents.
  2. His optimism can be a little annoying.

Tulio[]

  1. He is the more aggressive of the two.
  2. Tulio played with loaded dice.
  3. As he says “Not the face, not the face” while fencing, his lips aren’t moving.
  4. Tulio almost said the F word after Miguel talked about a woman he met at Barcelona, which could've caused this film to get a PG-13 rating from the MPAA.
