Barney is is the main protagonist of Barney & Friends and a two hundred million year (two dinosaur years) old and a purple and green anthropomorphic Tyrannosaurus rex who conveys educational messages through songs and small dance routines with a friendly, silly and optimistic attitude. in stuffed animal likeness, who comes to life through a child's imagination. His theme song is "Barney is a Dinosaur", whose tune is based on "Yankee Doodle". Barney often quotes things as being "Super dee-duper". This will focuses on his beginning years from 1988-2005, and 2007-present.
Why He Used To Be Super-Dee-Duper[]
- Barney was greatly created by Sheryl Leach, as one of the most historical PBS Kids characters in history (alongside Thomas the Tank Engine).
- His design is passable, as he looks like the friendly dinosaur he is. His mini-doll form is also pretty cute.
- He was a very appealing role model for little kids with his friendly and optimistic personality.
- He promotes strong positive messages about friendship, teamwork, cultural appreciation and problem solving. He also emphasizes active play.
- He encourages kids to stay active, by playing and singing catchy songs.
- He’s a great friend and mentor to Baby Bop (green) , BJ (yellow) and Riff (orange).
- David Voss, David Joyner, Josh Martin, and Carey Stinson did a good job wearing the Barney suit, as their movements were amazing and fitted Barney very well.
- Bob West and Alan Bruce did a good job voicing him.
- Barney helps out many kids, including ones with serious issues, such as disability. He helped out a kid who was deaf and wears a hearing aid, and he helped another who had Down syndrome.
- He has some funny moments here and there.
- Barney is one of the most positive characters not just from PBS Kids, but from the entire history of preschool TV.
- He also made his live appearance in Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade, along bringing his own balloon self from 1994 until 2005. and the orchestra rendition of Barney Theme Song and I Love You were amazing and very incredible score, except for that one incident for his balloon self in 1997.
Bad Qualities[]
- in Season 9-11, his show slightly declined, but he was still he lovable, cheerful dinosaur
- His constant laughing and singing can become repetitive.
- There are certain people who dislike Barney due to his irritatingly cheerful personality and his smarmy, also because of his constant laughing and singing becoming repetitive at times, and He can be annoying sometimes, mainly while singing the "I Love You" song at times. but doesn't mean he's bad, it’s just some flaws he has like many other good characters.
- His mini-doll form from the first season can be considered as "creepy" at times because of the eyes, but luckily it was improved in the second season.
